Foreclosure

The current foreclosure crisis in USA along with the economic downturn shows a situation where the families facing foreclosures are trying to hold on to their property dearly. People are in fact so focused on having their property owned that they are doing everything possible to retain it and those who have lost it are trying to buy the property back. Reports show that instead of packing up and leaving, the owners of the house are protesting to have their house back.

The Obama government has planned extensively for the financial recovery of the economy. Yet, there are some organizations that are working to stop the banks that are putting foreclosures of borrowers unable to face their debts in motion. This campaign was set motion in a Brooklyn church on the 13th of February by the organization named ACORN (Association of a Community Organization for an Immediate Reform). This organization is a group consisting of members of the minorities in the USA with less income. With the assistance of the internet, this group has established a vast network of the people who are threatened from foreclosures and volunteers those who are willing to help put a stop to these foreclosures.

This organization was formed with the notion that, no one gets into trouble on their own with the foreclosure crisis at hand and no one could blame the families who choose to live a luxurious life (without being able to afford it) for what is going on in the world.

With the seriousness in the foreclosure crisis increasing, some of the people started blaming the financial institutions and banks for the current situation. It was perceived that these institutions offered generous loans with the back up of billions of dollars from the government. In this scenario, the Americans were certain that they were disregarded by the state government and stated protesting, stating that they need their houses back and not to repossess it.

It was at the end of February that the first revolt of such a protest occurred. A woman tied herself to the balcony of her property after the bank she got the mortgage from turned down her proposal to renegotiate the mortgage conditions. This was in San Diego. She was helped in these extreme protests by her neighbors and the ACORN representatives. They formed a human barrier around the owner and stopped the authorities from taking away the owner.

In some other states, the sheriffs had to take steps to save the home owners from the members of the ACORN. The main aim of the ACORN is to encourage the homeowners threatened by foreclosure to protest demanding their house back with the help of the neighbors and members from ACORN. Any possibility of peaceful compromise in solving foreclosures is wiped off with this step taken by the ACORN. Thus to keep an eye on such home owners, the sheriffs in different states like Illinois, had to hire lawyers to study all the foreclosure orders in the area.
